5 Gut-Healing Foods to Add to Your Grocery List
28 September 2023

Gut discomfort is one of the most common things we hear about in consultations — and often the fix isn't an elimination diet, but adding the right things in.
Fermented foods like yoghurt, kefir and sauerkraut introduce beneficial bacteria that support a diverse microbiome. Starting small (a spoonful at a time) helps avoid overwhelming a sensitive gut.
Fibre-rich foods — oats, legumes, and a wide variety of vegetables — feed the bacteria already living in your gut. Variety matters more than volume here.
Ginger and ginger tea can ease nausea and support digestion, while bone broth and gelatin-rich foods provide amino acids that support the gut lining.
As always, introduce new foods gradually and pay attention to how your body responds — what heals one person's gut can aggravate another's.
